Danny DeVito Says Kaitlin Olson Is the Funniest Cast Member on ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but of course he thinks that — every father would say the same about his fiancé.
There’s an argument to be made that, on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, no relationship is more messed-up and morally perverse than the one between Frank Reynolds and his bastard not-daughter Dee. Despite (poorly) raising Dee and her twin brother Dennis as his own for decades, Frank has prostituted Dee, set her on fire, waterboarded her and even married her in front of her real father. And, through it all, Frank has never once said that he loves “Deandre,” as only he calls her — though that would probably only make things even worse between the two degenerates.
In real life, however, DeVito isn’t so donkey-brained that he hasn’t noticed that Olson is talented, beautiful and hilarious, despite how his Always Sunny character has spent the last 15 seasons trying to convince Dee that the exact opposite is true. In Rob McElhenney, DeVito itted that he thinks Olson is the best performer in the Gang.

Just don’t let her do impressions of other races.
When asked about the greatest TV power couple of the current era, DeVito first gave props to the man who brought him into the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia family. “He’s an impressive guy,” DeVito said of McElhenney, whom DeVito tricked into thinking that his father had a box full of human teeth during their first meeting.
However, DeVito continued, just because McElhenney created It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and thus brought the entire Gang together, doesn’t mean that he’s the talented one in the relationship. “I’ve always thought that Kaitlin was the funniest one on the show,” DeVito said of Olson’s place in the Always Sunny cast. “She’s not only gorgeous, but has the timing and is a natural comedian.”
While he hasn’t yet released his official power rankings for the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast, FX Chairman John Landgraf levied similar praise for Olson in the article, saying that her Always Sunny audition "was like watching Lucille Ball walk through the door.”
Naturally, McElhenney has long insisted that Olson is the most talented member of the Always Sunny cast, once telling The Guardian that his wife is “hands down the funniest woman on television.”
Seemingly everyone involved in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia agrees that Olson is an other-worldly talent — although we’re still waiting to hear a couple other key players weigh in on the matter. Charlie, Dennis, it’s your turn to start calling Dee the GOAT instead of the Bird.
