Exclusive ‘Taskmaster’ Preview Clip: Jason Mantzoukas Brings Filth to the Prize Task
Ever since Jason Mantzoukas made his début as Taskmaster’s first American contestant living outside the U.K., fun has been had with the differences between our nations’ supposedly common language. Straight out of the gate in his first episode, he had to be reminded that he’s in Series 19, not “Season.” Pronouncing “penalized” with a soft or hard “e” is another issue later on.
Sometimes, this is pure pedantry on the part of Taskmaster’s Assistant Alex Horne, if you can even imagine such a thing. But in the season’s fourth episode — which airs tonight in the U.K., and will drop on American YouTube tomorrow — regional linguistic differences directly inform Mantzoukas’ offering in the prize task.
