Charlie Day Actually, Really, Truly Eats Cat Food on ‘Hot Ones Versus’

On today’s episode of Hot Ones VersusCharlie Day ate actual canned cat food on camera in front of his cast mates, and he somehow stayed awake for the entire experience.

When Day, Glenn Howerton agreed to compete in Hot Ones Versus, wherein the three Always Sunny co-stars had to complete a challenge or answer a question in order to avoid eating multi-million-Scoville chicken wings, they likely assumed that sauces such as Da Bomb would be the only items on the menu that weren’t fit for human consumption. However, given the fact that Day’s character, Charlie Kelly, has made a habit of ingesting substances not known for their palatability, the jabronis at First We Feast thought it would be funny to coerce Day into eating a staple of Charlie’s diet that strains the limits of the human gastrointestinal tract.

They were right.

Faced with the choice of eating either a second incendiary wing or a spoonful of cat food, Day decided to accept the challenge and get a taste of Charlie Kelly’s signature bedtime snack/sleep aid. While Day clearly doesn’t enjoy cat food nearly as much as his most famous character, he should thank his lucky stars that Sean Evans didn’t come out holding a paper bag and a jar of glue.

Hilariously, the only reservation Day had before completing one of the grossest Hot Ones Versus challenges of all time was that he worried the audience at home wouldnt believe that the grayish-brown mush they placed in front of him was actually cat food, possibly because YouTube hasnt yet found a way to transmit smells. But, given McElhenney and Howertons expressions when they took some sniffs for themselves, Im willing to take the Always Sunny and Hot Ones staffs word that Day put his Mo where his mouth is.

After confirming that cat food is not, in fact, tasty to humans, Day said, “That is the first time that Ive actually tried a bite of it, because in the show, I think its usually a can of tuna fish or something.” Day then itted that the cat food “did taste tuna-related.”

Well, if anyone poops the bed tonight, it wont take an entire episode to find the culprit if something smells fishy.
