21 Beloved Characters That Got Awful Redesigns

Dora the Explorer needed help finding her map, her backpack and her archnemesis, Swiper the Fox, but it appears she also could’ve used a second opinion before undergoing a makeover. 

More than a decade into her TV run, Nickelodeon decided that it was time for Dora to change her look. The only problem? She now “looks like she bites,” to quote a now-infamous comment roasting her new look. 

This animated preschool icon is one of many characters to get slapped with a bad redesign, the worst of which include an “unfrizzled” Ms. Frizzle, an “abomination” of Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder’s transformation into the horrifyingly generic “Carl the Constructor.”
