‘King of the Hill’ Absent From Hulu’s List of June Releases

With a mysterious media campaign underway, Hulu may be setting the stage for an imminent surprise-release of the King of the Hill revival — or they could be yanking our chain worse than when Buck Strickland dangled the manager job over poor Hank’s head.
Leading up to the highly anticipated return of reunion event featuring the show’s main cast and most important creatives at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas on May 30th, has fans wondering why Hulu is spending so much time and money on marketing for a show that isn’t even on their schedule yet.
Don't Miss
Late last week, Disney revealed the slate of planned streaming releases for both Hulu and Disney+ in the month of June, and King of the Hill was the most conspicuous absence from the list. It’s just like that pump jockey to show up late.
With King of the Hill still missing from official release schedules, the King of the Hill reunion at ATX seems like a strange move from a marketing perspective. Typically, massively popular shows that don’t have a set release window also don’t reassemble the cast and creators for a very public press event nearly two and a half years after announcing a revival.
Now, any particularly hopeful King of the Hill fans with a penchant for connecting the dots are welcome to don their best Dale Gribble Mack hat and argue that Hulu is planning a secret conspiracy to surprise-release the new season on the same day as the reunion event, sneaking in King of the Hill just before the summer release schedule begins. After all, Hulu is pulling out all the stops for the convention , with both co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels descending on ATX with returning stars Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss to talk revival. That’s a lot of busy schedules to coordinate for a release-date-TBD project.
Then again, TV shows — let alone animated TV shows — aren’t exactly known for operating well ahead of schedule, so if King of the Hill really does move up to a spring release after aiming for the summer, then Hulu will have pulled off an even more astounding magic trick than the time Peggy disappeared from the piñata.
