26 of the Worst Movie Locations in Hollywood History

From questionable landmarks to murderous terrain, these filming locations have us wondering why anyone would ever want to shoot there. Like really, Half Baked, you thought shooting a scene based in New York City right in front of a pizza chain solely found in Canada was okay? And really, The Conqueror, you thought that shooting near a nuclear test site wouldnt make you the deadliest movie set of all time?

For shame, locations departments. For shame. 

Midnight Rider

Behind-The-Scenes Accidents Midnight Rider: The Gregg Allman Story You haven't seen this film because it was canceled, and the reason is horrifying. The producers and director ordered a shoot on an active railroad in Savannah, Georgia, without the proper permission. Second assistant camerawoman Sarah Jones was killed by a freight train, and other crew  were injured. Criminal charges were of course filed. CRACKED.COM

The Incredible Hulk

THE INCREDIBLE HULK CRACKED.COM The film was set in New York, but the climactic fight scene takes place directly in front of Toronto's iconic Sam The Record Man on Yonge Street.

Miami Vice

Jamie Foxx temporarily quit MIAMI VICE after a local cop shot one of their security guards while filming in the Dominican Republic. The filming was so dangerous that, at first, the police didn't want to get involved to keep the film crew safe, so the production had to hire local gang  to provide security. But then a cop showed up, got into a thing with one of the security guys, and Foxx left saying that if they wanted to finish the movie, they needed to finish it somewhere else. The ending was rewritten (and apparently way better anyway), and

Twilight

TWILIGHT BE CRACKED.COM The books and films are famously set in Forks, Washington, but when Edward shows Bella Vampire Baseball, Oregon's Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge can clearly be seen behind home plate.

Noah’s Ark

Illegal filmmaking Extras died in 1928's Noah's Ark. For the flood, cameraman Hal Mohr quit when director Michael Curtiz rolled his eyes at his safety concerns. Three extras died, another lost a limb, and a dozen suffered serious injuries, but Curtiz somehow escaped any legal repercussions. CRACKED

The Conqueror

THE CONQUEROR was the most carcinogenic set of all time They filmed so close to an atomic bomb test site that 91 out of the 220 cast and crew  got cancer later in life. 46 of those, including John Wayne, died from it. Radiologist Dr. Robert Pendleton said, Blame for their exposure on set would hold up in a court of law. CRACKED

Tommy Boy

TOMMY BOY CRACKED.COM For the film's big finale, Tommy Boy confronts Ray Zalinsky (Dan Akroyd) in Downtown Chicago but the Toronto streetcars (famously known as 'The Red Rocket') are dead giveaways!

Fitzcarraldo

CRACKED Death and snake venom on FITZCARRALDO In Werner Herzog's 1982 film, several indigenous extras were killed or injured. A logger was bit by a venomous snake, and had to cut off his own foot with a chainsaw to stop the poison from spreading.

Escape From Tomorrow

Illegal filmmaking Escape From Tomorrow illegally shot at Disneyland. In 2013, they shot several scenes in Disneyland without permission. The actors pretended to be tourists, the cameras were smuggled in, and the editing was done in South Korea. Disney avoided controversy by deciding not to sue. CRACKED

Ishtar

CRACKED Sun poisoning and a dead cobra on ISHTAR The 1987 movie was shot in the Sahara Desert, where director Elaine May found out she was allergic to the sun. She had to wear bandages completely covering her face. Oh, and a cobra that was supposed to appear in the film died of a heart attack.

Ed Lauter

Actor ED LAUTER died of mesothelioma In 2014, his widow Mia Lauter sued CBS and NBC, claiming that her late husband was exposed to asbestos in their studios. Because he worked in so many movies and shows, his exposure to asbestos was off-the-charts high. CRACKED

CRACKED Starvation on the set of RAPA NUI In 1994, Kevin Reynolds' ion project was filmed on Easter Island, in the Pacific. We had one flight a week from the mainland, and there were times we ran out of food to feed people, and things like that, it was...it was very bad.

Amityville Horror

AMITYVILLE B HORROR CRACKED.COM After being denied permission to film in Amityville, NY, the iconic house was recreated in Toms River, NJ. Town exteriors were shot in New Jersey, and nowhere is this more obvious than the Sunken Garden at Georgian Court University in Lakewood.

Sorcerer

A myriad of diseases on the set of SORCERER William Friedkin's 1977 thriller was shot in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic for 10 hellish months. Не lost 50 pounds and contracted malaria, and at least 50 cast and crew were evacuated from the set with malaria, food poisoning, gangrene, or other injuries. CRACKED

ANCHORMAN KWW GRACKED.COM Anchorman is set in San Diego (German for a whale's vagina, of course) but the film's opening shot has Burgundy's helicopter touching down right in front of the cylindrical and very recognizable International Tower in Long Beach.

Asbestos rained down daily on FULL METAL JACKET Matthew Modine (joker) said, That was one of the most toxic places I've ever been. We'd be having a cup of tea in the morning, and all the dust would fall in. You just drank the tea and didn't think too much about the dust. Predator

Unclean water on PREDATOR They shot the 1987 movie in the jungles of Palenque, Mexico, and many of the cast and crew got sick with travelers' diarrhea because of the unpurified water. Kevin Peter Hall said, Predator wasn't a movie, it was a survival story for all of us. CRACKED

My Cousin Vinny

MY COUSIN VINNY CRACKED.COM The film was set in the fictional town of Wazoo, Alabama, but as Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei pull into town, there's no mistaking the Jasper County Courthouse in Monticello, GA.

RoboCop

ROBOCOP BE CRACKED.COM Robocop is set in crime-ridden Detroit, but producers thought Detroit had too many featureless, indistinct buildings. They filmed almost entirely in Dallas, TX, and a car chase features Reunion Tower, one of Dallas' most distinct landmarks.

Scarface

SCARFACE BE CRACKED.COM After being run out of Miami for the movie's negative portrayal of Cubans, the shoot continued in LA. In the Freedom Town scene, Manny walks under that distinct V where the I-110 and I-10 intersect near Santa Monica.

Spider-Man 2

SPIDER-MAN 2 CRACKED.COM For Spidey's fight scene with Doctor Octopus on top of a moving train, Richard Moskal, director of the Chicago Film Office, says the film used the Chicago L train to replicate New York with a fictitious sense of geography.
