Humans are incredibly good at species, though, we’ve endured all manner of crises, both local and global, and we’re only getting better at it. Case in point: Medicine has gotten exponentially more impressive, especially in the last century. 

Circa 1925, you had a real chance of dying from injuries that a course of history, easily. As for some of the most common exits poor souls took in the early 20th century? Reddit queried itself to assemble a list, and boy, will you be glad we’re not still dying from blisters.

Sartank . 1y ago 100 years ago tooth infections had a relatively high mortality rate, 1 in 10 would die. 400 years ago tooth infections were basically a death sentence and one of the leading causes of death in Europe.

chriswaco 1y ago Nobody has mentioned bad hips. Today hip replacement is fairly routine, although there are sometimes complications. 100 years ago when your hip went bad they gave you a wheelchair and a bottle of morphine and you'd be dead in a year or two.
