The caption for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Season 17 poster may have asked “How much cheese is too much cheese?” but fans of the FXX staple have another inquiry: How much A.I. slop is too much A.I. slop?
Shortly after the new artwork for the series’ new season debuted on Thursday afternoon, fans flocked to social media to share their takes, largely agreeing that the image, depicting The Gang photoshopped onto a Philly cheesesteak, was far from a five-star work of art. “Terrible thing to have to stare at for the next 2+ years on all official Sunny stuff,” complained one viewer while another speculated whether this was an elaborate gag. “The Gang lets A.I. do the show for them,” they joked.
Though the Always Sunny cast has remained tight-lipped on the backlash from loyal viewers, Community creator Dan Harmon recently shrugged off his series’ fans as goners — literally. “I think maybe they’ve started dying off,” Harmon recently told Forbes, referencing Community’s long-delayed film adaptation. “So we’re not hurting as many people anymore by the continued delays. God rest their souls.”
